Rise & Fall - demo 2003
Rise & Fall - demo 2003-This is where it all started though. The 2003 Demo contains the very first 4 songs Rise And Fall ever wrote, in their practice space which at the time was a spare room in guitarist F-Double's house. When Rise And Fall began practicing in the summer of 2002 the line up was: F-Double on guitar, Murph on drums, Vince on bass and Bjorn singing. After a couple of months AK joined as a second guitarist, making their sound heavier and beefier. It was at AK's homestudio ("The Spaceshuttle Compound") that these 4 songs were recorded in February 2003. A little later Rise And Fall got asked to play their first show. The show was in Ghent, with Dead Stop on March 19th. This was where and when the demo was originally released. When the band has run out of their 100 or so copies of the demo, Discontent Records from Holland offered to press another 100. Those sold out quick too and Rise And Fall soon started working on their next release. A few line up changes followed, with F-Double and AK leaving the band, Cedric joining instead and then recording their debut album "Hellmouth". The rest of the story is common knowledge or at least, easy to find. Control Records is excited to present Rise And Fall's 2003 Demo, pressed onto vinyl, with a whole new lay out and extra liner notes by the band.

To elaborate, let me throw out some more names for you - Only Living Witness, Undertow, with bits of old Metallica and contemporaries Iron Age. In short, what Mother Of Mercy brings to the table is punishing mid-tempo hardcore thats not short on monstrous riffs, demonic yowls, and parts designed to motivate every different variety of coreman to hurt the person standing next to them. After just a year and a half of existence theyve released two well-received EPs on Collapse records, and in addition to their hometown dominance theyve made it out to California for Sound and Fury 08 and just wrapped up a winter tour with the Mongoloids. Now with the release of their debut LP, Mother Of Mercy takes the time to flesh out their sound, as well as kick it up to the next level. With gatefold cover art and layout by E. of Swedish Black Metal gods Watain to round out the package there's no way you can pass this record up.

Constants - if tomorrow the war-Mit dem 2009er Konzept-Album "The Foundation The Machine The Ascension" konnten sich CONSTANTS bereits sehr eindrucksvoll und erfolgreich in Szene setzen, hinterließen vielerorts - auch aufgrund einer fast unmöglichen Kategorisierung ihres ureigenen Stils - offene Münder und beeindruckte Fans, die sich bereits mehrfach (u.a. auf Co-Headliner-Tour mit ihren Labelmates CASPIAN vor wenigen Monaten) von den Live-Qualitäten des Trios um Will Benoit überzeugen konnten. "If Tomorrow The War" nimmt den vor 1 ½ Jahren gesponnenen musikalischen Faden locker auf, führt die bandeigene Soundlinie konsequent weiter und ist doch ganz anders. Shoegaze, Indie, Metal, Prog, Psychedelic... Nach wie vor ist dem Dreigespann aus Boston kaum etwas heilig und vor allem nicht fremd, "If Tomorrow The War" ist im Vergleich zum Vorgänger jedoch eine gesunde Dosis songorientierter und somit direkter, im besten Sinne zugänglich. Die Basics nahm die Band im bandeigenen - solar betriebenen - Studio auf, im Anschluss wurde die rohe Energie der Band unter der Regie von Justin K. Broadrick (Ex-Napalm Death, Godflesh, Jesu) gezielt und druckvoll in Szene gesetzt. Gastauftritte von Mike Hill (Tombs) und Andrew Neufeld (Comeback Kid) runden das Album zudem ab. Für die grafischen Arbeiten wurde Michael Repasch-Nieves (Junius) verpflichtet. Insgesamt sollte "If Tomorrow The War" für CONSTANTS einen großen Schritt nach vorne bedeuten. Grey - whoneedsyou-Vielleicht versprüht keine andere deutsche Stadt den Geist der großen weiten Welt so einzigartig wie die Hafenstadt Hamburg. Vielleicht haben GREY diesen Geist der Weite und Weltgewandheit ihrer Heimatstadt verinnerlicht. GREY gehören nämlich zu jenen Bands, deren Seele mit jeder gespielten Note spürbar ist. Der raue und massive Mathcore-Sound wird durch einen eigenständigen Groove untermauert, der von einer Band dargeboten wird, die die Idee von DIY am Leben erhält. Die Geschichte von GREY begann 2008, als ehemalige Mitglieder von Bands wie Under Siege, Cities of Sleep und Pignation sich zusammenfanden, um etwas neues und musikalisch einzigartiges zu erschaffen. Avenue Six Left - faces-Im Herbst 2007 gegründet, nahmen Avenue Six Left schon im März des darauffolgenden Jahres ihre erste Demo-CD, die mittlerweile komplett ausverkauft ist, auf. Innerhalb kürzester Zeit standen A6L als Vorband von Szenegrößen wie War From A Harlots Mouth, Maroon, Born From Pain und Texas In July auf dem Programm und konnten so ihre intensive und energiegeladene Live-Show auch überregional an den Mann bringen. Auch wenn sich die 6 Jungs im Alter von 18 bis 23 Jahren beim Metal und Hardcore bedienen, ist ihr Musikmix weit entfernt von den Standard Metalcore Bands der Szene. Technische Elemente und Synthesizer sind in den Songs genauso vertreten wie die allseits beliebten Moshs und Breaks. Für den nötigen Tiefgang sorgen, neben den komplexen aber ,catchigen" Riffs der Melodiefraktion, die vielseitigen Vocals von zwei Sängern. Die von keinem geringeren als Alexander Dietz (Heaven Shall Burn) gemasterte Debut CD Faces, wird die stetig wachsende Fanbase direkt ins Mark treffen. In Deadly Sounds Records, einem neuen Unterlabel des renommierten Dead Serious Records (Cataract, Teamkiller, Sick Of It All usw.), konnten die Jungs einen vielversprechenden Deal einheimsen. Im Winter 2010 wird dort die erste Full-Length CD der Sechs erscheinen. Bis dahin wollen Avenue Six Left auf möglichst vielen Shows nur eines unter Beweis stellen: FACE THE BEAST!

Acacia Strain - wormwood-The mammoth fourth album from Massachusetts THE ACACIA STRAIN is easily their most dynamic, focused and crushing to date. It can be said some bands truly embody a certain spirit or emotion. Without a doubt, Massachusetts long running chuggernauts, THE ACACIA STRAIN, truly embody anger. And that shows more than ever on their new full-length, Wormwood. The bands sound and vibe are more ferocious than ever on this, their fourth full-length for Prosthetic Records and fifth overall. Even the successes of their previous full-length, Continent, which debuted at #2 on Billboards Heatseekers chart in 2008 and their DVD, The Most Known Unknown, which debuted at #10 on Billboards Top Video Sales Chart in early 2009, has not assuaged front man and lyricist Vincent Bennetts turmoil.
